'Pea' full of health
Chick peas are good for you and that's official. Packed full of protein, a new study from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem shows that the chick pea contains a high quality protein on par with meat, as well as anti-oxidants which help prevent heart disease and cancer.
The significance of this is that we might be able to make good use of the chickpea protein, instead of just using other forms of protein from beans like the soya bean. Research has also found that the use of the chick pea might be useful for a milk substitute for infants because they are less allergy producing than soya beans.
